The outer box is decorated with a masaime pattern, representing the flow of time in music with annual rings.
The natural shimmering of the carved grain lines, the strength and weakness of the lines, and the missing pieces give a sense of rhythm (sound), and also remind us of a musical staff.
{The love for nature is also expressed in this piece.

This karakami piece was created from a woodblock print of Mr. 坂本龍一's handwritten score, using a classical printing technique known as kata-oshi.
Material: Echizen Torinoko-gami
Dyeing: mica (pearl pigment refined from granite)
Printing: gofun (white pigment refined from oyster, clam, scallop shells)

"Karakami" was used as Eiso ryogami for writing letters in the Heian period, and as architectural styles changed during the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, it came to be used for interior decoration such as screens, sliding doors and wallpapers. In the Edo period (1603-1867), karakami became widespread, reflecting the tastes and tastes of samurai and court nobles, tea ceremony masters, merchants, and merchant families, and it continues to be used as a traditional craft for interior decoration.

Ryo Watanabe
is a metal worker. After graduating from Musashino Art University, Department of Spatial Design, she worked at an ironworks before beginning to create objects using metal. He extracts the unique expressions of various metals and produces and exhibits works whose forms have the feel of natural objects.
