EYヨ YAMATAKA formed the BOREDOMS in 1986, and from the beginning was clearly unique in his experimental approach. While leading the Boredoms under a variety of aliases, Yamataka has also been a member of Hanatarashi, Noise Ramones, UFO or DIe, Audio Sports (a unit of Yoshihide Otomo), Naked City (a unit of John Zorn), Z-Rock Hawaii (a unit with Vienna), Omoide Wharf (a unit of Seiichi Yamamoto), and Praxis (a unit of Bill Laswell). He is one of the most avant-garde musicians in Japan today, and his DJ performances are highly acclaimed. His label "Shock City" has produced numerous experimental music releases.
