Sound over music. Micro Ambient Music" was collected as a memorial to the music of the late 坂本龍一, who was obsessed with small things.
Winner of the German Music Critics Award 2023 in the category Electronic & Experimental, it is a four-hour long work of 41 previously unreleased works by 42 musicians from Japan and abroad that pays tribute to Sakamoto's late works.
Ambient music, which can be played to create silence, has been defined in a wide variety of ways. Among them, 坂本龍一's pursuit is evident in the music of his later years, when he began to make extensive use of field recordings, noise, and other non-instrumental sounds. Micro Ambient Music" is a memorial work spun by musicians who revere Sakamoto's music from that era.
