The first solo album from commmons, released in 2009.
It was a quiet, all-instrumental work, and the first original solo album without any synthesizers.
The album features mainly piano and nature sounds, and invites a variety of string instrumentalists as guests, including Fretwork, an English ancient music group, sho player 東野珠実, Keigo Oyamada, Hirotaka Shimizu, Ren Takada, Christian Fennesse, Rob Moose and others in the Nanto Koyokai (Japanese court music group), and others. String players from a variety of genres have been invited.
The album also includes "disko," "ice," and "glacier," which were strongly influenced by his experiences in the Arctic Circle, which he visited during the making of the album.
The song "glacier" was later used in the film "The Revenant: The Resurrected" (Alejandro González Iñárritu: 2016).
The CD is packaged in a "full artwork" edition with a booklet that includes text by the artist and photos taken in the Arctic Circle, The "Full Artwork" version was released in two versions: an inexpensive "packageless" version in a simple eco-friendly packaging.
This product (packageless CD) uses a Digipak tray to protect the data surface, and is enclosed in a PP bag (front side: CD cover/reverse side: track order and minimal credits) with a protective cover on the CD disc surface, as required for product management. This cover can be cut along the cut line and attached to a plastic CD case, etc. that is no longer needed at home and can be stored on a CD shelf, etc.
The carbon offsets are made possible by the reforestation efforts of the environmental organization moreTrees.
