The long-awaited full-length album "Runner", their 10th album in 4 years since their last album "Car Alarm", has been released.
In April 2012, the band performed in Japan with their mini album "The Moonlight Butterfly" and gave a wonderful live show that combined maturity and freshness. The band consists of Sam Prekop, Archer Pruitt, Eric Claridge, and John McEntire.
That steadfast foursome has completed their first full-length album in four years since "Car Alarm".
Having finished making "The Moonlight Butterfly," which was their culmination, albeit a mini, they aimed for a new approach, and this is the new frontier they have achieved in the 20 years since their formation.
Sam's soft, storytelling vocals are still present, and while the band's sound of yesteryear The Sea and Cake
is still at its core, it has adopted an experimental approach, and a broader, more exhilarating band worldview is said to be unfolding, The album is fresh and new. Produced by only four members and recorded and mixed by John McEntire.
It is the same as usual, but not the same as usual. Check out their latest pop sound as they continue to take on new challenges without resting on the laurels of their long career!
