The Tohoku Youth Orchestra, a mixed orchestra of elementary school students to university students from Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, was started by 坂本龍一 immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
As a memorial performance for the director 坂本龍一 who passed away on March 28 the previous year, the Iwate concert on March 23, 2024, the Miyagi concert on March 24, the Fukushima concert on March 30, and the Tokyo concert on March 31, 2024, were held, with {{48a066294b5db51cc8d 799415f1e681b}}The concert featured Sakamoto's signature pieces "The Last Emperor," "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence," "Aqua," and "The Sheltering Sky," which were also performed in his last solo piano concert work, "Opus," as well as a performance of the 1992 The concert was recorded in its entirety, including "El Mar Mediterrani," which Sakamoto wrote for the opening ceremony of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and "Japan Soccer Song," known as one of the anthems of Japanese soccer. This work includes all the songs from the concert.
Ms. Sayuri Yoshinaga and Ms. Nono participated in the reading corner.
The proceeds from the sale of this album will be used to continue the activities of the Tohoku Youth Orchestra.
