Released in 2017, Year BookThe third installment in the "Year" series. Originally, the plan was to compile the decade of the 1980s, but there were too many candidates, so the works here are from the first half of the 1980s. While some studio tracks are included, such as "Photo Musique (dub)," which was only played once on the radio, this album features a number of live tracks, most of which are being released for the first time. Units, "Novel," a choral piece commissioned by the Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus, which some members refused to sing because of the radical lyrics by Ryu Murakami, and finally, "Merry Christmas at the Battlefield" featuring Yuji Takahashi and Aki Takahashi as guests at the 1984 Kanagawa Arts Festival's "The World of Ryuichi Sakamoto: Contemporary Composers of Japan" series. The last part of the album includes a rare sound recording of Ryuichi Sakamoto performing five songs from "Merry Christmas" and three solo pieces with Yuji Takahashi and Aki Takahashi as guests at the 1984 Kanagawa Arts Festival's "Japanese Contemporary Composers Series: The World of Ryuichi Sakamoto. As in the past, an interview with Ryuichi Sakamoto explaining the songs and a booklet with rare photos from that time are also included.
