Why did the man ask to commit seppuku?
What is the true purpose behind it?

Story]
It is the 17th century. The reign of the Tokugawa shogunate at the beginning of the Edo period seemed to have brought peace after the end of the Warring States period.
However, under the Tokugawa regime, there was a series of lords' houses being taken down one after another, and the practice of "kyogen seppuku" became popular among ronin, who had lost their jobs and homes and were in need of a place to live.
The ronin, who had lost their jobs and homes, were in dire need of a way out of their poverty. They would go to the houses of wealthy feudal lords and ask to be allowed to commit seppuku in their gardens, and the lords would give them jobs and money in exchange.
One day, a samurai asked to commit seppuku at the gate of the prestigious Iyi family.
His name was Hanshiro Tsugumo. Saito Kageyu, a retainer of the Iyi family, begins to tell the story of a young wanderer, Motome Chiziwa, who had visited the Iyi family a few months earlier and committed a ritual suicide by committing a ruse.
He recounts the cruel end of the young samurai who sold his sword, the lifeblood of the samurai, and turned it into takemitsu (bamboo sword), and without shame or shame, requested to commit seppuku. Hanshiro then begins to tell the astonishing truth.
