商品説明

Director Takashi Miike remade the novel "Ibun Ronin-ki" by Yasuhiko Takiguchi, which was made into a film in 1962 as "Seppuku" starring Tatsuya Nakadai, into a period drama film released in 2011 and titled "Harakiri: death of a samurai" for overseas audiences. The contradictions and conflicts between the impoverished life and the face of a samurai are beautifully depicted in the melody of the melancholy main theme. The main theme is played by various instruments such as strings, piano, and oboe, casting a different shadow on each scene. The work allows the audience to fully enjoy the unique pleasures of film music, in which various aspects of the music are given to the music through variations. In addition to the main theme, many of the songs bring a sense of tension to the scene, such as the long-toned strings in "Harakiri Seppuku," which is played during the seppuku scene, and the sense of desperation in the high frequency range of the violin in the following song, "No Way Out, You Can't Run Away. The piano sound is weak and sometimes interspersed with internal techniques, and the way it is thrown into the scene as a cacophonous mass of sound is more of an oddity of sound design than an arrangement. The fact that some of the songs feature Japanese instruments is also a feature of this work, as it is a period drama. The taiko drums heard in "God of Death" were played by the three brothers Hirotada Kamei, Denzaemon Tanaka, and Denjiro Tanaka of Sankyokai, and they play a role in creating the atmosphere, sounding like sound effects or four-strike kicks. Also impressive is the sound of the sho (Japanese bamboo flute) played by 東野珠実 on "Losing". On the other hand, there is also a song featuring Kaori Muraji's acoustic guitar, whose beautiful tone with overtones contrasts nicely with the Japanese instrumentation. Of the many and varied sounds on the album, the highlight is "In the Courtyard. While ambient synths create the background, the percussion, which is indistinguishable from synth or live, and the flute, which leaks a lot of breath and reminds one of the shakuhachi flute, create a wonderful space with many noisy sounds. This work is truly the work of a skilled craftsman, who has colored the heavy story with music that neatly accompanies it without over-agitating it.
