summvs" is the fifth and latest in a series of collaborative works by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto.
The title "summvs" is derived from a coined word combining the Latin words "summa" (English: sum) and "versus" (English: towers). Following "vrioon" released in 2002, "insen" and "revep" in 2005, and "utp_" in 2007, "summvs", the final work in the series, completes the collaboration project consisting of a total of five works.
The fusion of Ryuichi Sakamoto's piano tones, which are only a few notes, but which are filled with emotion and passion, and Alva Noto's sine waves will give birth to a new aesthetic of piano tones.
The new album will be showcased under a unique sound visualization and state-of-the-art technology and stage design on their European tour, starting with a performance at the Roundhouse in London on May 12 and continuing through June 19.
