  • Dear Playback 2022 Customer

Thank you very much for your purchase.
We hope that all of you have received the package by now.

We have received a few inquiries about the product so we want to explain it.

1: The autograph and numbering in the package of Disc 17 were written by Ryuichi Sakamoto before his passing.

2: The B side of this work has a map drawn by its sound (pink noise), and the A side was cut to match the B side. Therefore, the concentric circles are positioned differently from the standard vinyl disc. Please note that it is not a defect.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of commmons/commmonsmart.

  • October 6 [Friday] - December 24 [Sunday], 2023 AMBIENT KYOTO 2023

AMBIENT KYOTO is the world's premier audiovisual art exhibition on the theme of ambient, created with the wisdom of Kyoto, a world-class cultural city where tradition and innovation thrive.

AMBIENT KYOTO held its first exhibition, "BRIAN ENO AMBIENT KYOTO," featuring the founder of ambient, Brian Eno, in Kyoto last year in 2022, and it was a great success.
The second "AMBIENT KYOTO 2023" will feature works by world-class Japanese artists Ryuichi Sakamoto, Shiro Takatani, Cornelius, Buffalo Daughter, and Seiichi Yamamoto.
The exhibition will be held at two venues, the former Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank Welfare Center and the basement floor of the new Kyoto Shimbun Building, both of which will be used as last year.
This year, in addition to the exhibition, a live performance will be held during the exhibition period. Terry Riley, a master of minimal music who has greatly influenced ambient music, will perform live on the Noh stage at Higashi Honganji Temple on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14.

Ambient music is not something that can be formed by cutting out the sound alone, but is part of the climate and culture in which the music is played. Ambient music also includes the presentation of a new value system for how humans should deal with the environment and the earth in the future. This exhibition will be held with the primary goal of creating a new work in collaboration with the climate, culture, and people of Kyoto.
AMBIENT KYOTO will only serve its original purpose if it continues to work with Kyoto over the long term. AMBIENT KYOTO will continue to present world-class exhibitions with a long-term perspective, aiming to establish Kyoto as a "sacred place for ambient art" and to gain recognition both nationally and internationally.
